Curriculum Vitae Ariena van Bruggen

Research activities

As Chair of the Biological Farming Systems (BFS) Group at Wageningen University, I have coordinated the research and teaching activities of the scientific staff in the group. The focus of our research activities has been on the detection of ecological principles and patterns underlying the functioning of healthy, durable farming systems and the design of such farming systems. Some of the research components that have been addressed in more detail are the interaction between agriculture and nature, nutrient cycling, microbial ecology, human pathogens in organic and conventional vegetable production chains, biological suppression of root diseases, and epidemiology, cultural and biological control of plant diseases in organic and integrated farming systems.
